Hey Reader, I hope you are having a great week. If you are in the North East, I hope you have weathered the storm and are bracing yourself for more snow this weekend. Just last week I was in 75-80 degree weather in Savannah, Georgia, enjoying time with family - and praying our Sunday flight home wouldn’t get cancelled. Thankfully, we made it back before all of the cancellations and have been enjoying our snow days. It had me reflecting. Almost six years ago, my daughter was a newborn as we all navigated virtual learning during the pandemic. This week, I found myself setting up a workstation and schedule to support remote learning and asynchronous work. Different season. Same lesson. While much has changed, one thing has not, the importance of systems and structures for your workflow and sanity! If the pandemic taught us anything, it’s this: We may need to pivot at any moment. Reader, the question isn’t if you’ll need to pivot, the question is are you prepared to? At home this week for my daughter, preparation looked like:

Whether in my home, with my clients, or within my organization, I rely on clear systems to strengthen engagement, communication, experience, and outcomes. So let me ask you: If you had to pivot tomorrow, at home, at work, or within your organization, would your systems support the shift? If not, no worries. I’ve got you. Here are four simple questions to prepare for the pivot: 1. What needs to continue no matter what? (Core priorities, non-negotiables, essential outcomes) 2. Where will the work live? (Platforms, shared spaces, physical setup) 3. Why does this work matter right now? (Clarity drives engagement and ownership) 4. How will communication and accountability happen? (Expectations, timelines, check-ins) It doesn’t have to be complicated. Calm, composed and effective leadership isn’t accidental, it’s built through intentional systems.
