Success is not accidental, it's intentional

Hey Reader,

I hope your February has been going well. This month has always been crucial in determining how successful the spring was. In February this is the time to reflect, revise, and refocus - I talked about this on Instagram.

February is usually the time when most schools begin their mid-year huddles and begin diving into their data to make decisions for the rest of the school year and the following school year.

This includes hiring plans, budgeting and resource allocation, programming and course offerings and a host of other things.

I have come across many school leaders that have very audacious and ambitious plans for their schools, but they do not have a plan.

They hope, wish, and even pray for success but do not have a plan for how to reach success.

Reader, this might be you. You may feel like you are on the brink of something big, but you do not know how to get there.

Instead of stopping you become distracted with all of the other things to keep you from focusing on the real tasks at hand.

I can tell you first hand how detrimental this type of avoidance can be to you, your students, and your teachers.

Leadership is not easy and success does not happen by chance.

It’s time to stop hoping and wishing for success and intentionally plan for it.

Remember our Affirmation of the month - February: I lead with passion and purpose, fostering a positive and thriving school community.

Purpose is not accidental, it is intentional.

So this month, review your goals, reflect on your progress, revise your strategy (if needed) and refocus yourself and your team.

If you are ready to be intentional about your legacy as a leader and the success of your school, my February calendar is open. Schedule your free clarity call to get on the path of success.

Reader, here’s to an amazing week.

Hey Reader, I hope your spring is going well — I know this time of year can feel like a sprint and a marathon at the same time. Whether you're closing out this school year or already planning for the next (especially if you're in New York preparing for the upcoming class size reductions in 2025-26 school year), there's a lot on your plate. One thing I’ve been stressing with leaders lately: no matter how much is happening, alignment to your instructional vision is everything. Over the past few...

Hey Reader, I'm popping into your inbox to check in—January is quickly coming to an end, but there’s still plenty of time to reflect, readjust, and reset. Today is a day of remembrance as we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., it’s a moment to reflect on his dream of equity and progress. This is also an opportunity to align our efforts with the shared goal of ensuring success and opportunity for every student. Since we’re approaching the midpoint of the school year, it’s the...

Hey Reader, Happy Monday and Happy Labor Day! I hope today you are all resting, especially if you are a principal in New York because students and staff return this week for the SY24-25 school year! Back in August I shared what school leaders need in order to have a strong start to the school year. Remember, to have a strong start you need to be proactive - the fires will come, you don’t have to wait and be reactive. Set up as many systems and structures needed to implement your instructional...
